Above Ground Storm Shelter
"The Houdini"
We have been building storm shelters and their components for 15 years. Through this experience we have learned so much about the wants and needs of our customers. The quality that almost every person wants in their storm shelters is affordability. We took this concern to heart when designing our new above ground safe room.
Why spend so much of your hard-earned money on something you may never use? That is why we designed and tested a shelter that cuts straight to the bottom line. We have extensive knowledge and experience in the fabrication industry and have used these skills to design a safe room that cuts straight to the bottom line. We are typically 30-40% lower than our competition for an equivalent size shelter. We implement lean manufacturing techniques and an internet based, factory-direct business model to ensure a low price for our customers, year after year.
Another quality that sets our safe room apart from our competitors’ is the escapability. Most companies will steer you away from shelters with outward opening doors, in case debris falls in front of the shelter and prevents you from exiting. We have overcome this problem with three different solutions. The first being a mechanism that allows you to remove the door completely with help from emergency personnel outside the shelter. The second is a 20-ton bottle jack mounted to the back wall of the shelter. There are mounting pockets on the door so the bottle jack can apply force to the door and open it effectively. The third means of escape included in our shelter is the escape hatch located on the roof. Simply remove a few bolts with the included crescent wrench and climb out using the integrated ladder on the door. This shelter has been tested at Texas Tech and meets or exceeds FEMA 320, 361, and ICC 500.
